Aware all about Margala railway station, Train Timing and Ticket Price in 2024

Margala railway station was inaugurated in 1979 after shifting of Pakistan Capital from Karachi to Islamabad. At that time Islamabad was under developed and not populated yet as of now. A shuttle service between Islamabad-Rawalpindi was started but it could not sustain due to low volume traffic and making loss to Pakistan Railway. From 1980 to 1988 section and station remained suspended. In 1988 Pakistan railway make efforts to start a freight train but could not succeed.

Until 2009 there was no train from Margala station. Seeing the commercial activities in Islamabad and around the Margala hill, Railway inaugurated and renovated the station and resumed the traffic again.

Train Timing at Margala Railway station

At present two trains runs from this station to Lahore and Karachi. One is Islamabad express which departs 17:15 from Margala station for Lahore. Second train is Green line express departs at 15:00 from station for Karachi.

Train Ticket Price from Margala Railway station

Train ticket price vary station to station and class you choose. Generally, Train ticket price from Margala, Rawalpindi and Chaklala to other destination is same. Islamabad Express is exclusively for Lahore and Islamabad people and there is no stoppage after Chaklala. Margala to Lahore train ticket price is 2000 for Parlor car,1750 for Ac Business. Location of Margala Railway station

Margala Railway station not exist on ML-1. Margala station line connected on Noor station on ML-1 then divert to Margala station. This line has been upgraded from 2015 to 2018 with vossloh fitting and UIC in RR&T project. Iqra university existed near the station. Length of section from Noor station to Margala is about 6 Km and distance between Margala to Rawalpindi railway station is 13 Km.

Facilities at Margala Railway Station

At Margala Railway station refreshment stall like canteen is available where you can buy drink and other appetizer for journey period. proper reservation office not available but you can take ticket from station office. A smart shelter type mosque available for passenger. Security of station is better than other station as it fenced and proper check and balance.
